Memorial Foundation names Scholar Athletes of the Week for March 12

High School seniors Michaela Rouggly from Dupo High School and Max DiPasquale from Belleville East High School were chosen as Memorial Foundation’s Athletes for the week of March 12.

The scholar athlete program, sponsored by Memorial Foundation in cooperation with Memorial Rehab and Sports Medicine and Memorial Medical Group Orthopedics and Sports Medicine recognizes one male and one female senior scholar athlete from a high school in Memorial’s primary and selected secondary service area. The weekly award winners from September 2017 through April 2018 will be eligible for one of two $1,500 scholarships to be awarded in May 2018.

Nominated by her mother, Dawn Rouggly, Michaela has a 4.0 GPA and participates in dance, cheerleading and cross country. She has received many awards for dance including 4th place at a regional contest. Michaela is a member of the National Honor Society, competes in World Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) and is a Junior ROTC member.

DiPasquale was nominated by his volleyball coach, Joe Nesbit, has a 4.8 GPA and is a member of the varsity volleyball team. Max is also a band member and is competitive in karate. He provides after school tutoring, sports camp assistance, and saxophone lessons for middle school students.
